The History of Wright Insurance Agency
A century of experience...
Wright Insurance Agency is the oldest independent insurance agency in Lodi, CA. The business was established by V.R. Larson in 1919. James L. Gleeson became the second owner in 1949 and retained ownership until his untimely death in 1965.
W.O. “Bill” Wright was working as an insurance company representive and had known the Gleeson family for several years. After Mr. Gleeson’s death, Bill Wright assisted Mrs. Gleeson with the operation of the business and ultimately purchased the Agency from her in 1965 becoming Wright Insurance Agency.
Bill’s two sons, Garland and Richard joined the agency in 1966 and 1971 respectively. Wright Insurance Agency acquired a two small agencies in 1972 and 1974 as the agency continued to grow.
Garland’s Son, Eric Wright joined the agency in 2000 after several years in the financial services field continuing the family legacy. Throughout the years, Wright Insurance Agency has achieved notoriety for impeccable service to their clients and dedication to education within the insurance industry.
In 2005, Wright Insurance Agency joined a cluster of now 70+ agencies named United Valley Insurance Services. Started in 1983, United Valley is an insurance membership organization with over 70 agencies throughout California, representing collectively over $520 million in written premium, providing our members with access to more than 60 insurance carriers.
Richard Wright retired in 2009 while Garland and Eric Wright continue to own and operate the Agency today.
